I've been blessed by the yarn fairies in recent weeks, and realized I hadn't shared my good fortune.
A while ago I commented on my friend Marnie's blog - Gingersnaps with Tea - and she responded by sending me a lovely gift of sock yarn. The day it arrived happened to be one of "those" days, in the middle of one of "those" weeks. I'd been feeling both run down and blue, and altogether quite done in. Then I opened this bit of delight:

From MeanBean, this is "Broad Bean" Exclusively for Woolgirl Alice Sock Club Members. There is a really lovely zippered project bag featuring Alice and the Mad Hatter's tea party. Inside are two skeins of Shibui Knits Sock in colour 7347, which is a mix of light creamy taupy browns and pale blue. There was also a very pretty beaded stitch marker. I've never knit with Shibui sock yarn, and am quite looking forward to making something nice with this. It is so soft and lovely, both in hand and in colour, that I may go with a scarf pattern instead of socks... Thank you Marnie, you are wonderful and thoughtful and generous!
Then just this week, and despite rotating national postal strikes, another package arrived in the mail. This one from the Guerilla Knitter herself. Last time I wrote, I was pining for a simple, lightweight cardigan. Several suggestions appeared in the comments, all of which were lovely in their own ways, but none really worked with my stash. Then I opened the mail and found this:

Three skeins of Americo Yarns: Cotton Flame in colour #K224. This picture is fairly true to colour - it's a soft mid grey-blue. It just happens to be the perfect amount of yarn for a perfect light summer cardigan. I'll be casting on Amiga this weekend. Thank you Beryl - you have a generous heart and I'm blessed by your friendship.
Just because I have the close ups, and I know you want another look at these beautiful yarns...

Now, it's time to find some needles....
