Phew, What a week! Report card marks were due Friday. Mine are nearly done. IPP's have to go home this coming Friday - YIKES!!! Yet I still find time to knit. My kids tell their friends that I'm obsessed. The friends look at me, cooking with needles in my other hand, and quietly agree.
Lots of pictures this time. Remember to click on any image to go to a full sized picture.
This is what you can make with one skein of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport. This is how much I had left. I love this toe up idea when you're not quite sure how far the yarn will go. I made the foot a little long - but not uncomfortably so. Funny how I never notice the diagonal striping when I have the socks in my hands, but it's so striking in photos. Yummy, cozy socks. Hope they don't felt too much.
I finished these Petticoat socks ages ago, but I'm not sure if I remembered to post them. This is the perfect foot length. Repeat after me: "The measuring tape is your friend, not an inconvenience." There is plenty left over after a pair of purposely short legged ladies socks to make a generous pair of girl socks.
This looks like a magazine photo! Cool! These booties and soon to be hat are a set for my new nephew, Liam Alexander. Liam made his appearance at 3:03 am on Easter Sunday morning. At 22" and 10 pounds 3 ounces, he might have already outgrown these! New family are all well and happy. For the curious: bootie pattern: Knitting, October 2005, Sirdar Snuggly Tiny Tots DK. I don't know the name of the pattern because I ripped it out of the magazine so It would fit in my new knitting bag.
Helping with the posing is my new knitting bag. I love it much! It is lime green. It has pretty pink and yellow and blue stripes. The store said it was a "makeup traincase", but I knew better, it's a knitting bag. See inside! It makes Barbie pink look pastel. Lots of room for two small projects - socks, baby stuff..... and a zippered pocket on the top for dpns, stitch markers, and a tiny pair of folding scissors.
So, now you're all caught up. I have one more project nearing completion for another new baby, but I'll show you that when it's all seamed up. Time to get on with the weekend jobs now though. Laundry awaits........
