YAY!!! I am so excited. I have finally found the perfect sock yarn for my pal. I was going to use a lovely, sunny, Trekking XXL but couldn't make up my mind. An anonymous email revealed some secret desires and voila! That's 4-ply 100% alpaca baby! It is the most lovely heathered green. It makes me think of walking in cool misty forests, surrounded by lush ferns and covered by a green canopy so dense I can only see tiny glimpses of blue sky. Make no mistake, this is not hard wearing, live in everyday sock yarn. This is alpaca; soft, luscious, smooth, caressing, cozy, comforting, warm, light, cuddle up on the couch with the dog/cat play Enya and knit alpaca. I think I feel lace coming on.
In other news, the same trip to the LYS turned up a Fiber Trends pattern I've been looking for, the Lily of the Valley Stole, and one of those Clover row counters that you click. It was on my "buy next time you're in the States 'cause there's no way you're going to pay shipping for that" list. What's that in front? Why it's ALPACA.
I stumbled on this place while searching for a Canadian supplier of Opal sock yarn online. I can't get that line from Jimmy Neutron out of my head now. "Llama, Llama, Llama" Go check it out. This Saskatchewan family raises llamas on their hobby farm. I've ordered 3 skeins of Llama, Llama, Llama to make a shawl. Any leftovers will be socks, or mitts, or something luscious for me to touch whenever I want to. BTW, they carry all of the Opal yarns, including the Rainforest series with the much desired Tiger and my favourite, Ladybug.
Now, if only those sock patterns I ordered would show up.........

that yarn is beautiful! i'm sure the socks will be divine :O)
